BIRKENSTOCK and MAHARISHI
PHOTOGRAPHY by BIRKENSTOCK
BIRKENSTOCK and MAHARISHI highlight the relationship between nature and technology with a new collection designed to function in all environments. Sharing a common goal, BIRKENSTOCK and MAHARISHI present the Mogami Terra Tech, an ergonomic evolution of the archive-based BIRKENSTOCK silhouette. It merges Maharishi’s signature functionalism with traditional craftsmanship, emphasizing the artistic aspects of military construction.
Introduced in 2024 as part of BIRKENSTOCK’s Active Range, the Mogami is developed to handle all types of terrain. It combines the brand’s iconic design with features built for the outdoors. At its core is the anatomical footbed, enabling natural walking — a principle that has been central to BIRKENSTOCK for generations.
To enhance the walking experience, the Mogami Terra Tech is equipped with flexible features designed for outdoor living. Biological and technologically engineered materials come together in natural tones inspired by camouflage — drawn from landscapes rich in brush, soil, and clay.
The sandal’s two straps are made of suede and nylon webbing, each featuring a functional quick-release buckle as a central element. The underside consists of a polyurethane sole with grip and protection, transforming BIRKENSTOCK’s iconic footbed into a waterproof version.
The collaboration introduces an entirely new feature inspired by the M.A.L.I.C.E. system (Modified All-Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment), introduced by the U.S. Army in the 1960s and used by MAHARISHI in their own functional accessories.
The Mogami Terra Tech comes with a detachable crossbody strap and double carabiners, allowing the sandals to be carried while walking barefoot on soft ground. Additionally, split-toe tabi socks are offered for increased balance and comfort across various climates. The Mogami Terra Tech is available on its own or as a set with all accessories included.
Alongside the footwear, the co-branded BIRKENSTOCK Maharishi M.A.L.I.C.E. backpack is launched in signature olive green and black. It features 3D external pockets, hidden side compartments, and an expandable design offering up to 50% extra height. A padded lining, floating laptop compartment, and quick-release buckles ensure both comfort and functionality.
The campaign, photographed by London-born photographer Tyrone Lebon, emphasizes the versatility of the Mogami — designed to transition seamlessly between nature and the city. The imagery contrasts the peaceful beaches of Costa Rica with London’s dynamic energy.
